A rainforest is something this prairie girl does not experience very often. The ride to Doubtful Sound in New Zealand winds through a beautiful rainforest. The day we visited, it was raining. This was the first rain they had had in several weeks. I'm sure the vegetation needed the rain. Much of the landscape was shrouded in mist, but that only added to the atmosphere, and just seemed right. I managed to snap a few shots while trying to keep my camera dry.
"It's not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon men's hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air, that emanation from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews the weary spirit."
Robert Louis Stevenson
